All Alone 03:16
Lyrics & music (c) 2023 Richard Turgeon, all rights reserved. I can’t be your superman, baby Maybe I never will We’re not seeing eye-to-eye lately Another bitter pill I wanna speak my mind if that’s all right Before you shut me down I can’t hear myself with you talkin’ I guess I’ll see you around I wanna do I want in this lifetime Don’t wanna do it your way Not gonna cave or pretend it’s just fine now I got something to say You keep putting a box around my world You got to set me free I keep thinking that thing’s ll be all right I just gotta be me I’m better when I’m all alone This time it’s just like starting over I barely know just what to do No one to look over my shoulder That’s why I’m chasing something new I’m better when I’m all alone credits

There was no letter when you moved so far away Not feeling better and there’s nothing left to say You could’ve told me that’s where this was gonna go I didn’t think you’d be so cold but now I know You’ve moved on I’m pretendin’ Nothin’s wrong I tried to call you but your friends said she ain’t here I’m broken-hearted and the days turned into years I never understood how you could cut so fast Still feeling stupid thinkin’ we were gonna last… You’ve moved on I’m pretendin’ Nothin’s wrong I never got to say I need you No clever way to say goodbye I always wondered why you threw our love away I know you’re out there I know you still care Somehow I knew that you would come back Somehow I knew that we would get another chance… You’ve moved on but nothin’s wrong

Music and lyrics (c) 2023 Richard Turgeon, all rights reserved, ASCAP We started out just holding hands In just 3 days I’d be your man We went to prom and then to state It always felt like our first date I’ve got you now Kids came along and things were fine What’s’s mine is yours, and yours is mine So much went wrong over the years We’re still together, no more tears I’ve got you now
Who knew our love would get so dark What made us drift and fall apart All I can do is scratch my head and wonder how We both can say I’ve got you now All I can do is scratch my head and wonder how Now we can say I’ve got you now

Friend Zone 03:34
I need to let you know I care I need to let you know that I will always be there I’m here for everything you say I want to tell you that I wish you’d look my way Friend zone How did I get here? Friend zone You’ve made it so clear that we’re just buddies spend my money with nothin’ owed I’d never treat you like an object I’ve always opened every door I drive you ‘round this town and listen to you whine I’ve always wanted something more Friend zone How did I get here Friend zone You’ve made it so clear we’re just buddies spend my money with nothin’ owed Friend zone Why can’t you see it? Friend zone Girl I really mean it when I say that we should be together I’ll give you anything you want I’ll get a cooler, faster car I’ll tell you that you’re pretty when you’re being mean All that I ask is that you get me out of the Friend Zone Friend zone How did I get here Friend zone You’ve made it so clear we’re just buddies spend my money with nothin’ owed Friend zone Why can’t you see it? Friend zone Girl I really mean it when I say that we should be together I really hope you change your mind I really wish that you were mine

We treat our people with compassion Just watch your back when you are visiting alone Without a home but they’re not homeless A West Coast paradise that’s everyone’s to own These city streets are full of bodies Just step right over them before they fade away Our fair city It’s the California Dream Our fair city You can just ignore the screams Our fair city Step inside the danger zone Our fair city Call it hell, I call it home Just step right up and pick your poison What doesn’t kill you only makes you want some more It’s better when you turned a blind eye Sunshine in squalor ‘cause it’s what we’re fighting for These city streets are full of bodies Just step right over them before they fade away Our fair city It’s the California Dream Our fair city You can just ignore the screams Our fair city Step inside the danger zone Our fair city Call it hell, I call it home

Parasite 03:27
Go on and tell me your life story You look familiar but I’ll never know your name I’ll give you everything you wanted If you accept I promise things won’t be the same Remember when you used to smile A fading photograph of life before your eyes Don’t let me be your parasite The price you paid for love won’t let you get away Don’t run away into the night A golden cage is now the only place you stay I am the one that you’ve been seeking The only one you need to know You understand they can’t protect you And I can never let you go Lyrics & music (c) 2021 Richard Turgeon, ASCAP, all rights reserved.

Forgiveness 03:45
Your mind is made up, I am dead… to you It’s time to pay up, nothin’ left… to do I thought you’d move on but we’re fading… to black I’m waiting here to see if you’ll ever… come back Take a look inside and you will find forgiveness The days have turned to weeks and now I’m all alone You shut the door for good, this time I should’ve known You signal virtue but it’s petty and so cold I’m forced to turn around ‘cause this shit’s getting old Take a look inside and you will find forgiveness Maybe someday you’ll come back to me Maybe someday you’ll come back and see Maybe someday you’ll come back to me Maybe someday you’ll come back to find… forgiveness

Without You 03:33
I could’ve lived my life down here alone Nobody by my side, no one to love, no one to call my home Without you no telling where I’d be today I know you saved me now, from myself, before I lost my way By this hidden hand I never see The empty man I’ll never be Without you To be without you I’ll be searching wide for my whole life And never wonder why I’ll be Without you To be without you Well I think about the man I could’ve been If I’d feel as good as I do if, you hadn’t let me in No regrets or second thoughts as time goes by And I’ll never leave you here alone, I’ll never say goodbye By this hidden hand I never see The empty man I’ll never be Without you To be without you I’ll be searching wide for my whole life And never wonder why I’ll be Without you To be without you And don’t you worry ‘bout tomorrow Just take my hand right now and follow cuz I’ll never be without you And don’t you worry ‘bout tomorrow Just take my hand right now and follow By this hidden hand I never see The empty man I’ll never be Without you To be without you I’ll be searching wide for my whole life And never wonder why I’ll be Without you To be without you To be without you To be without you To be without you

Sweet as Pie 04:00
I’d give my life to see you smile But then you wouldn’t get your way I give an inch you take a mile I guess there’s nothing left to say Been acting crazy since I met you No point in talkin’ cause I’m just not getting through The things you say are hard to justify You’ll let me back in It’s when you’re acting all Sweet as pie This somehow keeps on going round and round Your moods keep shifting with the wind You left me here without a sound Right now the best I’ve ever been Been acting crazy since I met you No point in talkin’ cause I’m just not getting through The things you say are hard to justify You’ll let me back in It’s when you’re acting all After the fight it seems the battle lines are drawn All I can do is sit around until you’re acting all Sweet as pie After the fight it seems the battle lines are drawn All I can do is sit around until you’re acting all Sweet as pie
10.
You came into my life and some would call it fate True love will take its time but us, we couldn’t wait We’ll never reach the end and struggle down this road, cuz No matter what I do today you’ll never let me in And I know we just weren’t good enough to be what could’ve been Lookin’ back, I know there’s things I could’ve said To get you closer to the visions in my head It used to feel so right but now there’s something wrong, cuz No matter what I do today you’ll never let me in And I know we just weren’t good enough to be what could’ve been Just say the word and I will follow A bitter pill that’s hard to swallow Let’s take our time when none is given, ‘cuz No matter what I do today you’ll never let me in And I know we just weren’t good enough to be what could’ve been They say that love is just like heaven It hits you hard you just don’t know when And things keep changing’ over time Except my love for you Cuz you’re mine No matter what I do today you’ll never let me in And I know we just weren’t good enough to be what could’ve been
11.
I have known you for so long And now it’s time to say goodbye Pretty soon and you’ll be gone When you leave, I’ll dry my eyes As all the memories fade away I hope you know I’ll still be here Gone tomorrow but we’ve got today (After all that’s been said and done) We’ll still remember all these years Don’t forget me when you’re gone All the love we’ve known forever Put the needle on this song And turn away, it’s now or never The light is fading from your eyes And all that worry was for nothin’ Let me hold you one more time The one who says you count for somethin’ As all the memories - fade away I hope you know I’ll still be here Gone tomorrow but we’ve got today We’ll still remember all these years Don’t forget me when you’re gone All the love we’ve known forever Put the needle on this song And turn away, it’s now or never And when you ask me how I’ll get along It doesn’t matter what I say Despite the good things that we both did wrong You always brought me brighter days Don’t forget me when you’re gone All the love we’ve known forever Put the needle on this song And turn away, it’s now or never Don’t forget me when you’re gone

about

Life of the Party is Rich’s seventh solo record released since 2017’s In Between the Spaces.

The LP includes 11 tracks with Turgeon’s unique spin on everything from relationships (“You’ve Moved On,” “I’ve Got You Now,” “Friend Zone,” “Parasite”) to urban decay (“Our Fair City”) and mortality (“Don’t Forget Me When You’re Gone”). All of these sonic stories soar with Turgeon’s seasoned, light-and-dark take on melodic alternative rock that’s been called “new vintage rock,” “California rock,” and a unique West Coast blend of power pop, indie and classic rock.

In the vein of his last several releases, Rich produced, recorded, mixed and mastered all of these tracks, performing all parts (drums, vocals, guitars, keys), with the exception of bass on a few tracks, provided by his longtime collaborator Ron Guensche.

Since 2017’s In Between the Spaces, Rich has garnered a steady following in alternative rock and power pop circles. His music has found regular airplay on SiriusXM and other well known podcasts and FM radio stations throughout the world. His sound has been compared to Matthew Sweet, Sloan, Teenage Fanclub, Bob Mould, R.E.M., and Tom Petty, to name a few.

In addition to writing and producing records, Rich is also a screenwriter, having optioned his first screenplay, HOLY MAN—a crime drama about the strange and tragic relationship between Beach Boys drummer Dennis Wilson and Charles Manson.

Rich’s music is available on all major streaming platforms, iTunes, Bandcamp (give a follow), and through Kool Kat Musik on CD. You can keep up with his music, check out videos, reviews, join his email list and follow his socials at www.richardturgeon.com

A message from Rich 11/10/23, the day he completed Life of the Party:

“Starting around 2016, some things came together in my life that led me to this very fertile period of creativity—the most creative and productive I’ve ever known. Since that year, I’ve put out 4 LPs, 2 EPs, a collection of ‘greatest (would-be) hits,’ and two collections of covers.

I’ve made a dent, and I’m not done. I might pause but I’ll never stop making music.

That said, it’s time for me to slow down a bit. Life of the Party is my best record yet, and it won’t be my last. It’s been a good run, and I’ve put out a consistent body of work I can be proud of.

But I won’t be working at the same song-a-month pace I’ve been going at, either. For how long, I’m not sure. Right now, I need to tend to other areas of my life—including my family, friends, paying the bills, my writing, and just enjoying being a performing musician with my live band, the Afterglow.

Fans, DJs, and press—definitely my family and even my bandmates—I appreciate your support so much. I’m swinging for the fences with all 11 tracks of Life of the Party. I hope you can give this one lots of listens and some solid airplay and reviews to help me keep doing this. Thank you.”
