I hope you enjoy my take of what I think is one of Cheap Trick’s best songs. It’s dark, edgy and sing-along pop all at once. Most importantly, it rocks.
I had a great time digging into this and recording and playing everything from the ground up—drums, bass, guitars, vocals. It’s a great way to learn from the masters on how classic songs are written, arranged, and performed. It's also a lot of fun.
If you like the track, please share. And be sure to check out my new LP, Lost Angeles, here on Bandcamp and at my website, richardturgeon.com, where you can also sign up for my email list (I only email about once a month to let you know about new single and LP releases).
Thanks for listening as always!
Cheers,
- Rich
lyrics
Downed, downed out of my head
'round, 'round out of my head
I'm gonna live on a mountain
Way down under in Australia
It's either that or suicide
It's such a strange strain on you
Oh, i got a mind
Over you it's not the first time
Oh, i got a mind
Rainbow's crawling on a midday sun
But i've been lucky you're the only one
Sunday's calling, you'll be number one
It's such a strange strain on you
Oh, you think of Jesus Christ
You walk on water but don't bet your life, no
All you walk is a fine line
It's such a strange strain on you
Downed, downed out of my head
'round, 'round out of my head
Too many people want to save the world
Another problem is it a boy or girl
Some say the weekend is the only world
It's such a strange strain on you
Oh, i've got a mind
Over you it's not the first time
All you walk is a fine line
It's such a strange strain on you
Downed, downed out of my head
'round, 'round out of my head
Downed, downed out of my head
'round, 'round out of my head

Saw these ladies open for Juliana Hatfield and they're my new favorite band. If you like '90s alt-rock like Veruca Salt and the Donnas, these 3 kick it up a notch. Amazing. Richard Turgeon
I've been a fan of J's since the mid-'90s, when "Become What You Are" became one of my favorite LPs ever. I've since met her in person, seen her play 3x, and featured her in my book, 'Indie Rock 101.' Richard Turgeon
Wife Patrol make instantly catchy alt rock with streaks of punk, new wave, and metal, overlaid with Bangles-esque harmonies. Bandcamp New & Notable Aug 20, 2020
