Look Away

from Lost Angeles by Richard Turgeon

/

about

This song was inspired by the case of the Unabomber, as depicted with exceptional artistry and responsibility in the Discovery Channel’s recent 'Manhunt: Unabomber' true crime miniseries—particularly Episode 6, “Ted,” which explores Ted Kaczynski’s journey to becoming a serial killer.

Musically, the song harkens back to my ‘90s alternative rock roots, representing my attempt to portray Kaczynski’s mindset in a way that only music can.

lyrics

Different day but I'm fighting the same war
No one seeing my point of view
I thought you might be the one who would've saved me
Should've known I couldn't count on you

Look away
Look away from me now
('Cause I'm dead inside)
Look away
Look away from me now
('Cause the light has left my eyes)

It's up to me 'cause no one else is taking action
I'll set the fuse and I watch it burn
The things I do just to get the right reaction
I fall away as the world turns

I've tried to walk among you
Do what I'm told
Work the system

But I've got something else to say
I know now no one's gonna
See it my way
Recognize me

Now everyone will need to pay
So now you need to look away....
