This song is about loving someone unconditionally, even when they're going through some difficult changes, introspection and growth.
I wanted to try something different that takes a bit of '70s folk and alt-rock and put them together. Influences you might hear include Simon & Garfunkel, Kings of Convenience, the Beatles, and Nirvana.
Writing and recording this song took me on a journey that stretched my playing and production beyond their usual limits. I hope you enjoy it.
lyrics
We lie here in the darkness
Something out there calls your name
Beyond the shadows there’s a whisper
And we’ll never be the same
Take one last look in the mirror
The surface cracks will heal in time
Traveling far will bring you nearer
To the bonds that make you mine
You will start the journey, to a private place, on this cold night
I can’t follow you, down the winding trails, under the moonlight
You will have to look, deep within yourself, wherever you roam
I’ll be there with you, every step you take, before you come home
It’s finally time to face the future
And fight the demons in your past
I’ll be beside you in the present
I’ll be the guiding light that lasts
I can feel the thorns, tearing at your body, through your memories
I will pull you up, help you find your way, until you find peace

Saw these ladies open for Juliana Hatfield and they're my new favorite band. If you like '90s alt-rock like Veruca Salt and the Donnas, these 3 kick it up a notch. Amazing. Richard Turgeon
I've been a fan of J's since the mid-'90s, when "Become What You Are" became one of my favorite LPs ever. I've since met her in person, seen her play 3x, and featured her in my book, 'Indie Rock 101.' Richard Turgeon
